Dragon Ball Z: Bardock - the Father of Goku

This is my first time since my Toonami days that I've seen a version of the show where the music was subbed out from the usual fare (mostly nu-metal and pop-punk), and it ended up being an even bigger turn-off for me than I'd have otherwise expected. Definitely leans more into the "musclebound dudes wrecking each other" angle than the "hey, we're on a whimsical martial-arts-adjacent adventure!" fare I'm used to hearing from this franchise

It is also wild to me that they took the "Goku was sent as an infant to Earth to conquer it" angle and doubled-down on it. They could have easily retconned it into "Bardock found out about Frieza's plan and sent Goku to a distant backwater planet to protect him" but no, some offscreen workers blast this baby into space as part of their usual workday. The most ridiculous plan, leaned into as hard as possible, and I am very glad the show creators did this
