Or not! I can't get the stream to load on my local browser, and I don't feel confident broadcasting something I can't monitor myself; one moment, troubleshooting this🔸

If you're watching AGDQ and want a much less toxic chat experience, @tielqt runs a discord at discord.tielqt.com that is homophobia and transphobia free, well-moderated, and just a chill chat with a GDQ specific room for those watching live

TONIGHT at 6PM Pacific: I play some more of NieR Automata's third chapter and talk into a microphone, feel free to drop in and say hi picarto.tv/lobst 🔸

Tiny Computer Chronicles (RPi4 Saga)

Settings are currently 720p for anything video-intensive, 1080p for desktop stuff. Videos are ad-free and with a trackpad keyboard the web interface for any video site is far better than anything built to be navigated with a remote or controller

Speaking of, RetroPie isn't out for this yet but I can see myself pairing my Dual Shock 4 to it regardless; Mednafen seems to run games well at the very least

Dragon Ball Z (seasons 2 and 3)

Dende's planet is invaded by evil aliens who incrementally kill everyone he's ever known; just as he's about to be lasered to death, he's snatched away by a different set of good aliens who value life, and the three of them form a scrappy resistance against a force that represents certain doom for his entire civilization. Dende's life is a YA novel

Dragon Ball Z (seasons 2 and 3)

Just starting the Namek arc (original cut, Funimation dub, 1 episode per day, very slow). Apropos of nothing -- as a kid I thought Krillin was worthless but now I find him incredible. Pushed himself to compete in training with the naturally super-strong/adaptive Goku, thinking they were on level ground. First human to compete with Saiyans, Namekians, Frieza. Represents the real-world audience in a conflict between unfathomably powerful people; truly a legend

I'd like to start bringing reusable utensils to fast-food/takeout restaurants not necessarily out of any notion this choice will save the environment, but because I hate single-use plastics and I think I'd enjoy my food more by limiting their involvement in the experience 🔸

Raspberry Pi 4 as non-Kodi media center

"Low cost" isn't exactly true, also; excluding the monitor (my TV), everything required to run it as it I've got it would cost over $200 off the shelf; this assumes you don't have a spare SSD, keyboard/mouse, USB-C charger, or > 8GB micro SD card kicking around. Those parts (and a few others) will likely outlast this build, though, which I'd consider one of the bigger benefits compared to picking up a secondhand ThinkPad for a project like this

Raspberry Pi 4 as non-Kodi media center

A shipment arrived today, and now my Pi boots seamlessly into my desktop's former SSD. I can call this fully upgraded, I think -- to the point where it almost seems unremarkable to say what I'm using it for, since while it's an ARM-based SBC, it's also a 1.5GHz computer with 4GB RAM; its main distinguishing factors are its comparatively low cost and low wattage. Still exciting, though, and I'll probably hook the Elgato up and stream it at some point soon.

Raspberry Pi 4 as non-Kodi media center

The Pi 4 arrived today; I threw it in the case, applied a fresh Raspbian install, set it to use experimental GL drivers, disabled the compositor, and now fullscreen web video's doing a lot better in Chromium (both with DRM and without). Success!

(I make the install sound painless, but the Pishop micro-HDMI cable broke and I ended up reconfiguring three different Ubuntu variants before settling once again on the default Raspbian. Still, success?)

I'd like to be less guarded with myself, also. I've noticed I keep pulling away from opportunities to express myself out of concern that someone will take issue with any part of it -- but that also clearly hurts my ability to be visible and form lasting social connections🔸

For 2020 I think I'd like to write more text-only blog posts, get into the habit of starting conversations with people, and reconnect with more online friends. I'd also like to develop lobstworks.com into a more filled-out and fully-functional repository of things I've done🔸
