Success, I'll make this a regular endeavor yet! Gonna shower and have a sandwich before starting the stream up

Show thread

I've decided to play Ring Fit before my stream today, so if my commentary has the general tone of a crushing physical defeat that'll probably be the reason

Two BlazBlue games are getting rollback netcode? Will this be the event that finally gets me to play a fighting game online for more than a single session?!

Half-an-hour late today, but I'm starting the stream up now, continuing through chapter 3

Show thread

I could just make a playlist in a music library manager, but I like the idea of starting a program and hitting Play to be hit facefirst with something from a specific curated subgroup

Show thread

Staying up way too late adding game music to the randomized VLC playlist that starts my Twitch streams, I'm getting into it enough that I should download Winamp to conveniently get this specific experience outside firing up OBS

A bit late (was held up by an Amazon delivery) but I'm live again and ready to finish Chapter 2

Show thread

That one scientist getting obliterated was straight out of Dead Space; my impression wasn't "oh shit! this new villain's hardcore!", it just felt like another example of gratuitous violence as a selling point, another casualty of the 360/PS3 generation running far too long

Show thread

Not a fan of how so much of it takes place in space station hallways and precursor lasertag arenas, also. One of Halo's enduring features is how willing it is to set levels in naturalistic environments, 4 seems a little too eager to get away from that

Show thread

Halo 4 plays well, has a nicely-paced campaign taking place in gorgeous, detailed environments, incredible cutscenes that capture nuanced human emotions, and a story with stakes elevated in oh god, such predictable and unnecessary ways. I can see why reactions were divided

I'd call that stream a success; thanks to everyone who dropped in! I'll be continuing this around 1PM on every day I'm feeling up to it, at least until Yakuza 0 is complete <3

Show thread

I'll be archiving it on Youtube, but I wholly expect to play to an empty room for most of it, and that's OK by me; the main appeal of a project like this is putting my brain into presenter mode, archiving my reactions to things, and using my voice in ways I normally wouldn't

Show thread

I plan to start streaming again tomorrow! The game will be another casual crack at Yakuza 0; sessions will be daily-ish, ~3 hours each, starting ~1PM Pacific time. Sign up for online notifications at my Twitch channel, which has the same name and icon as my Mastodon/Twitter

Outer Wilds base game complete, and what an experience! I encountered a few bugs with the current NomaiVR build, but I'd still call it as a first playthrough one of VR's killer apps (and still worth playing in flatscreen mode if VR doesn't work for you)

Show thread

When someone in The Outer Worlds describes a new facet of the capitalist hell they've been living through, you should be able to press a special button to cause the words "That's monstrous!" to burst in from the side of the screen with a confetti effect and a tiny XP bonus

Just finished a three-hour session; worth noting that for as high-intensity people assume this must be, my limits for playing are essentially how long I'm comfortable standing and interacting with things in VR. No nausea to speak of, and I get it playing Alyx

Show thread

Having just come off of Judgment, the story in this (IIRC) similarly is meant to seem capable of happening in reality, but in Y7 the way Ichiban recalls his first meeting with Arakawa makes it feel unreal, his teen hooligan years interrupted by a living legend stepping in

Show thread

Played the first chapter of this last night. It struck me how Ichiban's JRPG hero mentality does more than explain his approach to combat, it also helps illustrate why he's so attached to romantic notions and willing to leap into acts of extreme selflessness
